A $5,000 grant from the Ann & Leo Stoll Jr. Charitable Trust and a $1,000 grant from the Platteville Optimist Club will fund the Friends of The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums’ Field Trip Scholarship Program. The goal of the Scholarship Program is to ensure that all fourth graders in Grant County can visit The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums free of charge — a strategic goal of the Museum. Prior to COVID-19, The Museum had not seen a significant decline in field trips overall and many schools visit annually. However, the data shows that field trips are particularly difficult for rural schoolchildren in the Museum’s own backyard. Only a few of the 18 Grant County schools are able to visit the Museums in any given year. The Scholarship Program will offer funding for Museum admission and transportation for fourth-grade students from all schools in Grant County.
