South Wayne Man Dies in Crash

A 57-year-old man from South Wayne died after being hit by a semi while driving in rural Green County early Monday. The Green County Sheriff’s Office says Mark Brummel was traveling east on Highway 11 just after 3:30am. That’s when a westbound semi crossed the center line and hit Brummel’s vehicle. Brummel died at the scene – the semi driver was not hurt. Officials say weather and road conditions were factors in the crash. The incident is under investigation. Highway 11 was closed for nearly nine hours as crews responded to the crash.
