A Darlington man made his initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court Wednesday for charges related to a recent stabbing. Authorities say 33-year-old Higinio Tlaxcaltecatl was formally charged with attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, substantial battery and burglary while armed. Tlaxcaltecatl remains in jail on a $50,000 cash bond. He was taken into custody early Saturday after Darlington Police responded to a home on Main Street. In a release, officials say a male victim sustained serious wounds from a knife. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. He’s since been released from the hospital. Police say this was a targeted attack. Tlaxcaltecatl will be in court again April 7.
