The Wisconsin State Patrol has released more details on a fatal crash that happened last week in northern Grant County. Authorities say 79-year-old Charlene Boom of Prairie du Chien died in the crash on April 6. Boom’s SUV was struck by a semi – being driven by 38-year-old Nicholas Lenth of Lancaster. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol report, Boom exited a driveway along Highway 18 just before noon, pulling into the semi’s path. The eastbound semi hit the passenger side of Boom’s SUV with both vehicles coming to rest in the ditch. Boom was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Lenth was taken to Crossing Rivers Health for treatment of injuries. Officials closed that section of Highway 18 south of Bridgeport for roughly eight hours.
