The Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles has become the first to share driver data electronically with other states. The Department of Transportation says the new system launched April 10th. This process ensures the real-time exchange of driver information. It also improves the accuracy of the data and makes the DMV more efficient. Federal law already required the sharing of driver history records – but when a driver with major convictions tried to get a license in another state the notification was made thru paper notices in the mail.
