Highway 80 was closed north of Highland for several hours Thursday night due to law enforcement finding a suspect dead in their vehicle. According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, officers received a call for assistance in the village of Cobb just before 7pm but the offending party was not on the scene when they arrived.Police found the suspect vehicle on Highway 80 later and conducted a traffic stop. Officers say that the person inside the car was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound. No officers discharged a firearm during the duration of the call. The closure between Highland and County Highway P reopened just after midnight. The sheriff’s office expects to release more information later.
