The Wisconsin DNR is seeking comments on if a Prairie du Chien project to improve the city’s drinking water needs an environmental review. City officials applied for funding thru the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program for a project that includes replacing lead service lines in the city. Activities related to this project are considered minor under the Wisconsin Administrative Code that indicates no environmental analysis is required. Though a federal requirement under the loan program calls for an environmental review, loan program administrators determined that the project will not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Instead, the DNR is seeking comments about the decision and potential environmental impacts of the project.
