A World War II-era landing ship will return to Dubuque later this year. The USS LST 325 will visit Dubuque in early
September. A release states that public tours of the ship will be available. This particular ship served as a hospital ship returning wounded military personnel back to England from the beaches of Normandy. Its first visit to Dubuque in August 2018 drew more than 16,600 visitors, with 75% of those visitors coming from more than 50 miles outside Dubuque.
