A man charged with injuring a Platteville police officer while armed with a knife has been arraigned on 21 criminal counts related to the February 20th incident. 23 year Hywel Bowman Jr. of Platteville was arraigned on Thursday on charges of battery or threat to a law enforcement officer, substantial battery with intent to inflict bodily harm, resisting or obstructing an officer, discharging bodily fluid at a public safety worker, three counts of criminal damage to property, seven counts of felony bail jumping and seven counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. Officers responded February 20 to the area of Madison and Jefferson streets for a report of a man on the street with a knife who was threatening people and damaging property. A report says Bowman suddenly lunged at an officer and struck an officer in the face. Sgt. Paul Rehlinger suffered a split lip and a broken facial bone and sought medical treatment for his injuries in the incident.
