Arrest Made Following Death of Elderly Woman in Lafayette County

A 30-year-old woman from Illinois has been arrested and charged with first degree intentional homicide for the death of 83 year old Lynne Montgomery in Lafayette County earlier this month. Shannon Bussan of rural Elizabeth was arrested on Wednesday by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office in Galena. The charges come after an extensive investigation. Officials say Bussan is currently being held in the Jo Daviess County jail while awaiting extradition to Lafayette County. First responders were sent to a residence on Carr Factory Road in Benton on March 4th for a report of an unresponsive elderly person. The person was taken to a Dubuque hospital and was pronounced dead. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is leading the still-active investigation and says that more information on the case may be forthcoming.
