One Vehicle Crash Near Potosi

On Thursday around 10:45pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle crash on Hwy 61 at Buena Vista Lane near Potosi. 21 year old Brielle Schmieder of Platteville, along with two passengers were traveling south of Highway 61 when Schmieder ran off the roadway on the west side, due to the brakes on her vehicle locking up. Schmieder over corrected the vehicle, crossing the north bound lanes of traffic before entering the west bound ditch line striking the embankment. The vehicle traveled along the embankment before coming to rest in the north bound lanes of traffic facing south bound. There were no injuries reported. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Potosi Fire Department and the Potosi EMS. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Bennett’s Towing of Lancaster.
