Forecasters say the Mississippi River could top its 17-foot flood stage in Dubuque by Tuesday, and crest around 20 feet by next weekend. According to the National Weather Service, the Mississippi River is under a flood warning for a stretch that includes portions of Dubuque and Jackson counties in Iowa and Jo Daviess County in Illinois. The warning is in effect until further notice. The river stood at approximately 16 feet as of this morning. It was expected to steadily rise due to melting snow in areas north of Dubuque. Flood stage also is 17 feet at Bellevue. The river was expected to top flood stage by Friday in Bellevue.
