The Madison metro area has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state, according to data released Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The DWD says preliminary, not seasonally-adjusted numbers show the unemployment rate for the Madison metro area was at 1.7% in March, lower than the 1.9% unemployment rate recorded in February and the 2.3% unemployment rate a year ago. Unemployment rates elsewhere show Grant County at 2.1%, Iowa County at 2.3%, Lafayette County 2.1%, Crawford County 3.7%, Green County 2%, and Sauk County at 2.3%
