A black bear that made its way to a neighborhood on Madison’s southwest side will get to decide its own future, for now. The bear was seen wandering around the Meadowood neighborhood throughout the day Saturday, eventually climbing a tree. After consulting with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, police said they will not forcefully remove the animal, instead allowing it to leave the area on its own. The sighting comes mere days after a black bear was seen in the Mount Horeb area. It is unclear if this is the same bear.
