Governor Tony Evers has high praise for those who responded to the DeSoto train derailment last week. Evers said in a tweet he was “incredibly grateful for the quick action, collaboration, and cleanup efforts of emergency responders.” A Friday statement from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad says crew members who were taken to the hospital following the Thursday derailment in De Soto have been treated and released. They add 10 cars carrying freight of all kinds were involved in the incident, with two containers of non-hazardous materials going into the Mississippi River. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
