A Wisconsin judge has upheld a state regulator’s decision to approve the Cardinal-Hickory Creek Power Line project. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Jacob Frost’s ruling upheld a September 2019 decision by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to approve the Cardinal-Hickory Creek power line, according to a statement issued by Dairyland Power, American Transmission Company and ITC Midwest. Frost’s ruling also affirmed that commission approval was supported while applying appropriate statutory criteria. Construction of the $830 million dollar power line has continued despite legal challenges. The 102-mile, 345-kilovolt transmission line is planned to stretch from Dubuque County, through Southwest Wisconsin to Dane County. Line co-owners aim to have the project completed by December.
