A man suspected of firing a weapon at a family member in the town of York is in custody. The Green County Sheriff’s office issued a Green Alert for the suspect Thursday morning, identifying him as 35 year old Paul Anderson. An updated alert sent out around 12:45 p.m. reported Anderson was found safe. Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said Anderson surrendered to authorities after a four-hour negotiation over the phone. He said Green County Veterans Service personnel were instrumental in getting Anderson to communicate with detectives. Initial information led Skatrud to believe Anderson spent the night outside near his home. It does not appear he was hurt. According to a report, Anderson will now be going to the Green County Jail and will face several tentative charges, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety, intentionally pointing a firearm and disorderly conduct while armed. Deputies executing a search warrant found a long gun and spent shell casings outside of Anderson’s home. A shelter-in-place order was lifted early Thursday morning while deputies continued to search for Anderson. The Green County Sheriff’s Office put the precaution into place Wednesday night.
