Some more details have been revealed about a Richland County woman who is charged with hitting and killing an 86-year-old pedestrian south of Ithaca last year had a signature bond set at $10,000 on Wednesday. 30 year old Molly Rutherford faces a charge of negligent operation of a vehicle in a May 26, 2022, crash which killed 86 year old Ruth Anderson of Richland Center. According to a criminal complaint filed earlier this month, Rutherford told deputies she tried to pick up a soda bottle that had fallen on the floor of her minivan when she hit Anderson. Deputies determined Anderson had crossed Highway 58 to get mail from her mailbox across the road from her home. Anderson died at the scene; Rutherford and her 3-year-old passenger were not hurt. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office previously said Rutherford agreed to submit a blood draw, which did not show evidence she was impaired when the crash happened.
