Authorities and railroad officials are continuing to investigate what caused a train to derail near Devil’s Lake State Park on Sunday. The incident happened near the railroad crossing at South Lake Road, near the park’s parking lot. Conservation wardens say that two train cars derailed, but they were not carrying hazardous materials. There is no public safety concern at this time, and the park remains open. Conservation warden Sean Neverman said the railroad company is working on a cleanup plan for the overturned rail cars, but authorities have not identified the company that owns them.
