A Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle traveling 42mph in a 25 mph zone on County Highway F in Stitzer Tuesday around 9am. As the Deputy turned around to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle rapidly accelerated and passed another vehicle in a no passing zone. The Deputy initiated a pursuit where speeds reached around 100mph while traveling north on County Highway F toward Highway 18. The Deputy requested assistance from the Fennimore Police Department who went to the intersection of County Highway F and Highway 18. The vehicle did eventually stop at the intersection. The deputy arrested 24 year old Trevor Baker of Platteville. Baker will be charged with Eluding, Possession of THC and Possession of Drug paraphernalia. Baker will be cited for Speeding, passing in a no passing zone, and operating after revocation. Baker was arrested on a probation violation and taken to the Grant County Jail. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fennimore Police Department.
