Authorities are warning of a scam website impersonating a former Grant County business. Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman said his department has received several complaints about a scam website claiming to be Grant Equipment, a Cuba City equipment dealer that closed in 2021. The fake website claims to be selling farming equipment at unusually low prices, but it is not a legitimate operation. Complaints have come from around the country starting in July, and two complaints came from Canada. Because there are no suspects or victims within Grant County, the Grant County Sheriff’s Department does not have jurisdiction. The office recently contacted the U.S. Secret Service, which has agreed to take the case.
