A longtime first responder from Hazel Green received a state honor Tuesday. David Shelliam was recognized as the 49th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year in a ceremony in the Wisconsin State Assembly. A report states that Shelliam has served as a member of the Hazel Green Area Rescue Squad since 1995 and the Hazel Green Fire Department since 1983. He was selected for the honor by Representative Travis Tranel of Cuba City with the concurrence of Senator Howard Marklein of Spring Green.
