On Wednesday, the Green County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle accident with suspected serious injuries near the Town of Jefferson. Deputies along with the Juda Fire Department and Green County EMS were dispatched to the scene. An initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was southbound on Freeport Road when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, where it entered the South ditch and struck a tree. The vehicle had disabling damage with airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, 17 year old Carson Buholzer of Monroe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. The Green County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Green County Highway Department. No additional information has been released. The crash, which is Green County’s seventh traffic fatality of 2023, remains under investigation.
