On Saturday at around 3:45pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one-vehicle crash on County Highway T just north of Blue River. An investigation revealed that 70 year old Jeffrey Mark of Boscobel was operating his truck on County Highway T. An 8 year old juvenile female was a back seat passenger in the vehicle. Mark said a deer entered the roadway from the west side and he swerved to the right to avoid the deer. When he swerved, the passenger side tires of the truck went onto the shoulder and Mark lost control of the truck and entered the ditch on the west side. The truck then struck an embankment along a field driveway and became airborne over the driveway. The truck landed on its wheels and then struck a line of small trees and came to a rest. Multiple airbags in the truck deployed and the truck had disabling damage. Both Mark and the juvenile passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Mark had serious, but non-life threatening injuries in the crash. The juvenile passenger suffered a minor abrasion. Both parties were taken via ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation. Mark was later transferred to a larger hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
