Four out of the five people injured in an Amish buggy crash in Vernon County have been released from the hospital. A 5-month-old child is still hospitalized at the UW Children’s Hospital. The family of five was seriously injured in a truck versus buggy crash involving intoxicated driving. According to Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson, the truck collided with a horse-drawn buggy around 9:00 p.m. Monday on Kolash Road near County Road C in Hillsboro. The truck was headed southeast and hit the buggy going the opposite direction. Five people in the buggy suffered serious injuries. Three were taken to Gundersen Health in Hillsboro, the remaining two were taken to Richland Hospital. Authorities arrested the truck’s driver, 63-year-old Bruce Donlan, for OWI-causing injury. A bail hearing for Donlan is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. today. The crash is still under investigation.
