Platteville area leaders this week applauded early indicators that 2023 was another standout year for tourism. Platteville Regional Chamber Director Wayne Wodarz presented an annual tourism report to the Platteville Common Council, saying that 2023 as an excellent year for the city. A report says visits to the city’s Welcome Center were up 41% last year, according to chamber data, for a total of 4,807 visitors who picked up over 36,000 of the center’s brochures, maps and guides to local tourism hotspots. According to a report, the city also saw an increase in revenue from its hotel room tax, which taxes all overnight lodging stays to further support the local tourism industry.
