A southwest Wisconsin nonprofit is now offering adult day care — making it one of very few organizations that provide the service in the area. At an event this week, Southwest Opportunities Center Inc. unveiled a newly remodeled room where it now offers adult day care services, in addition to the other programs it provides. The day care services are mainly for elderly individuals and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Licensed adult daycare services are few and far between in southwest Wisconsin. For area residents, the closest options besides the new Lancaster location are in Dubuque and Prairie du Chien. The maximum capacity is 15 individuals, but once the program gets up and running, they plan to expand to 19.
