A Dubuque Police Officer has been arrested for domestic abuse. 27-year-old Tyler Breitbach is charged with two counts of domestic abuse assault and one county of third-degree harassment. City of Dubuque Public Information Officer Randy Gehl confirmed to KWWL that Breitbach is a member of the Dubuque Police Department. Breitbach is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of both criminal and administrative investigations. According to court documents, a woman, who is also a member of the Dubuque Police Department staff, said Breitbach assaulted her on two separate occasions during the Summer of 2023. Gehl said the city learned about the alleged incident during an annual review of harassment policies and reporting procedures with employees. Because the incident involved two members of the Dubuque Police Department staff, the department asked the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the alleged domestic assault.
