Work on a major solar project in Grant County has been completed. Alliant Energy officials today announced the completion of the Grant County Solar Project, a 200-megawatt array in Potosi that can generate enough electricity to power more than 50,000 homes annually. The Potosi site features more than 430,000 solar panels on over 1,400 acres, including close to 350 acres of native pollinator habitat. Completion of the Grant County Solar Project marks the culmination of the utility’s buildout of 12 utility-scale solar projects in Wisconsin enabling the company to power close to 300,000 homes each year with solar power. Alliant also has plans to develop close to 275 megawatts of energy storage capacity, including the 100-megawatt Grant County Battery Project, which will be located at the Potosi site, the release states.
