The City of Milwaukee’s hands seem to be tied when it comes to the right to bear arms during the upcoming Republican National Convention. A report says a proposal to ban coolers, aerosol cans, canned food, fireworks, water bottles, tennis balls and more inside the security zone of the RNC leaves out most guns. State law prohibits the city from banning firearms. Milwaukee City Alder Bob Bauman says he’s contemplating adding an amendment to ban guns anyway for safety. The proposed city legislation prohibits those already banned by state law, machine guns, short-barreled shotguns and silencers. It also bans air rifles, paintball guns, pellet guns, BB guns, shovels and water guns. However, long guns and pistols will be allowed, due to state law.
