Three Democrats running to face incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District took part in a forum on Wednesday night to differentiate themselves ahead of the state’s August primary. During the forum — hosted by the Democratic Party of Grant County at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville — the three candidates each claimed a pole under the “Big Tent” of the Democratic Party. Candidates Rebecca Cooke, Wisconsin Rep. Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson all say that their backgrounds and values will be the key to flipping Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District back to blue after a term under Van Orden. Van Orden succeeded Democrat Ron Kind, who held the position for 26 years.
