Billy Strings has just revealed that he has a new album on the way, Highway Prayers, which is set to come out on September 27. This will be Strings first solo album in three years. To help build excitement around the forthcoming record, Strings shared the lead single from the collection, “Leadfoot,” on Friday (August 2). The track, which details a reckless speeding driver, features Strings on vocals, banjo, bass, steel guitar, EBow electric guitar, and, interestingly, a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, which is heard revving in the background of the song. Highway Prayers was recorded in both Nashville and Los Angeles, and it features production by Strings along with legendary producer Jon Brion. Strings has a few dates left throughout August on his summer tour, while his fall tour kicks off the day Highway Prayers is released, with a two-night stand in Buena Vista, Colorado as part of his Renewal 2024 event.
