Jackson Dean’s newest country radio single, “Heavens to Betsy,” first became a hit for the country singer with the version from his 2023 album, Live at the Ryman. The studio version of the track will be featured on Dean’s forthcoming new album, On the Back of My Dreams, due out on September 6. The folksy phrase in the song title is one that Dean never heard before, until he was in a 2021 songwriting session with Benjy Davis and Driver Williams at Little Louder Music in Nashville. “That line has never been used around me growing up or anything,” Dean reveals. “I took it very literally.” Williams wanted a classic touch for the song. “My original thought was more country and lighter,” Williams recalls. “In subject matter, this girl named Betsy doesn’t need all the finer things in life. She just needs a home and a good man. That’d be Heaven to Betsy.” (Billboard)
