Selena Gomez surprised students at a high school volleyball game in Colorado over the weekend after seeing a sign asking her to sing the national anthem. Photos and video of the event show Gomez greeting the crowd. “I saw the sign, so I had to come by,” she said. The actress was in town to attend the Telluride Film Festival, promoting her role in Jacques Audiard’s upcoming musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez. Though she didn’t fulfill the request to sing the anthem, she did pose for photos and sign autographs in the gym. “They asked!!” she captioned an Instagram post documenting the encounter. “Couldn’t help it. It’s my first time in Telluride!” (EW)
