Michael Keaton Wants To Start Using His Real Name, Michael Douglas

Michael Keaton is planning to integrate his birth name, Michael Douglas, into his stage name. It’s a well-known fact that when he first joined the Screen Actors Guild, he discovered that both Michael Douglas and Mike Douglas were already taken, leading him to choose “Keaton” on a whim. “I was looking through — I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” Keaton told People. “I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.’” Now, as he approaches his mid-70s, Keaton wants to reintroduce his birth name and go by Michael Keaton Douglas in future projects.
