Queen Latifah’s life and career will be depicted in a forthcoming biopic, serving as the inaugural film in a series of independently-financed hip-hop biopics. The movie, which Latifah will also produce along with Will Smith and others, portrays her rise as a rapper, singer, and actress, highlighting her achievements such as winning Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe awards. The writer and director for the project have not been revealed yet. “We all came into this industry together and Hip Hop has shaped each and every one of us,” said Latifah in a statement. “Hip Hop’s impact has expanded beyond just music and has created a lasting impression on culture and society overall.
