One of the bridges spanning the Mississippi River at Dubuque briefly closed Tuesday due to a crash and hazardous material spill. City of Dubuque officials said in an online announcement shortly before 4 p.m. that the Dubuque-Wisconsin bridge was closed and traffic was being detoured. This caused traffic to be backed up for a long distance from the Dubuque-Wisconsin bridge. The city announced at about 6:20pm that the bridge had fully reopened to traffic. Meanwhile, the northbound entrance ramp from Kerper Boulevard to U.S. Highways 61/151 is closed today due to bridge inspections being performed by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
