Due to an equipment failure at the City of Platteville sewer plant, roughly 30,000 gallons of raw sewage overflowed from the plant and flowed onto the ground inside the fence line Thursday. The overflow did not reach the Roundtree Branch Stream. The malfunctioning piece of equipment has since been replaced, tested, and connected to an alarm. At no time was human life at risk of contamination.
