Eddie Murphy To Play George Clinton In Biopic From ‘Dreamgirls’ Director

Eddie Murphy is set to portray the funk legend George Clinton in an upcoming biopic directed by Bill Condon. Based on Clinton’s memoir, Brothas Be, Yo Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?, the film will trace his journey from 1940s North Carolina to becoming the iconic Godfather of Funk. Collaborating with Condon, Murphy reunites with the director who helped him earn an Academy Award nomination for Dreamgirls. The project was initiated by Catherine Davis, a lifelong George Clinton fan, who brought Murphy the idea. Produced by Eddie Murphy Productions and executive produced by Clinton, the biopic will be distributed by Amazon MGM. (Deadline)
