After severe damage rendered the Platteville Family Aquatic Center pool inoperable during the summer of 2024, the City of Platteville’s Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Committee established the Platteville Aquatic Recreation Sub-Committee (PARS) to address the community’s aquatic needs. The committee collaborated with the city to hire Chosen Valley Testing (CVT) for a geotechnical survey of the current aquatic center site. On October 29th, CVT drilled eight test borings to analyze the subsurface conditions. The results indicate that the site could accommodate a new aquatic center. Rebuilding on the current site offers substantial cost savings, estimated at $1–$3 million, by allowing the reuse of the exterior bathhouse and mechanical building. The committee will present its recommendations to the Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Committee on Monday, December 16, 2024. Recommendations will be delivered to the Common Council by February 17, 2025
