A southwest Wisconsin woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for causing a fatal crash. 34-year-old Erin Ruberg of Cassville, recently received the sentence in Grant County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. A previous press release by the Grant County Sheriff’s Department states that the charge stems from a June 8, 2023, incident in which authorities responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Wisconsin 81 and Settlement Road near Cassville. Ruberg was traveling south on Settlement Road when she came to a rolling stop at a stop sign and went to continue on Grant County Y. She pulled in front of a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Gerald Dukett of Cassville, who was traveling east on Wisconsin 81. This caused Dukett to strike Ruberg’s vehicle. Dukett was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The release states that Ruberg was “impaired by an intoxicant” at the time of the crash.
