Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus Are Officially Developing ‘Goonies 2’

Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus are set to produce a sequel to the 1985 classic The Goonies. While the director for the new film has not been announced, Potsy Ponciroli (Still The King, Greedy People) will be writing the script. Details about the storyline and any potential returning cast members remain unknown, but the news comes shortly after Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan’s reunited for Quan’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony. Columbus wrote the original film about a group of kids who go on a treasure hunt adventure in Oregon, which was based on a story by Spielberg and directed by the late Richard Donner. (Variety)
