On Sunday, at approximately 10:29 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to an unoccupied overturned pickup truck crash on Wheatville Road in the Township of Scott. An investigation determined that the operator of the pickup truck had been traveling eastbound on Wheatville Rd., slid off the road while negotiating a right curve, and overturned off the end of a one-lane bridge. The truck came to rest on its top and was severely damaged, a total loss. The driver was identified as 50-year-old Brian Smith of Boscobel. Smith crashed his truck Saturday night at approximately 10:00 p.m., left the scene, and did not notify law enforcement. Smith reported that he was wearing his seatbelt, and he escaped with minor injury. Smith was cited for failing to notify police of an accident, failing to keep a vehicle under control, non-registration of auto, and no insurance.
