Forty people with items such as clocks, linens, paintings and even baseball gloves tried their luck Saturday at an antique appraisal show in Platteville. Mark Moran, who was a guest expert across nine seasons of the PBS series “Antiques Roadshow,” appraised the local heirlooms at Platteville Municipal Auditorium. While registration was required for the 40 appraisal slots, several dozen more people came just to watch as Moran carefully examined the items and consulted his databases. Few attendees hit a jackpot as most items were estimated to be worth less than $50, but a few came out of the event knowing they were in possession of something worth hundreds of dollars. Area residents will get another opportunity to see Moran later this year. He has an appearance scheduled June 14 at the Dubuque County Library District’s Asbury branch.
