The annual Country Boom festival, located outside of West Salem, may see a change in venue closer to the town. Under a new proposal in the works, the popular music event could relocate from its current site to the East end of West Salem. Currently, Country Boom is held at the Maple Grove Venues a few miles from West Salem. State tourism officials estimate the festival pumps about $10 million into the local economy each year, boosting hotels and other local businesses. Village leaders are now considering the venue change, but no plans or dates have been confirmed.
