AMC Networks has revealed plans for a new anthology series titled Great American Stories, with its inaugural season to be based on John Steinbeck’s timeless novel The Grapes of Wrath. The series aims to explore various celebrated works, historical events, and individual narratives that embody the essence of the American spirit. Mark Johnson, known for overseeing AMC’s successful adaptations of Anne Rice’s works, will serve as an executive producer. The classic novel, published in 1939, depicts the trials of the Joad family as they leave their Oklahoma home during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression, seeking a brighter future in California.
