Suspect identified in Blue Mounds death investigation

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of 54-year-old woman who was found dead in the Village of Blue Mounds on Monday and police have named the person of interest. 54-year-old Heather L. Schoonover of Blue Mounds was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. The cause and manner of death are currently pending. A forensic autopsy was completed on Tuesday, and additional testing is underway, according to the medical examiner’s office. The 31-year-old female suspect, identified as Sierra Schoonover, and is Heather’s daughter. According to a statement sent from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Sierra is still considered a person of interest and is currently hospitalized. Sierra will be transferred and booked into the Dane County Jail for first-degree intentional homicide with domestic abuse and use of a dangerous weapon enhancers.
