On Thursday, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle crash with injury on Highway 80 near Mockingbird Rd., in the Town of Lima. At 7:04 PM, 19-year-old Connor Dowell and his passenger 18-year-old Jonathan Garcia both of Montfort, were north bound on highway 80, near Mockingbird Road, when Dowell’s vehicle entered the shoulder of the road. Dowell then over-corrected his steering, which caused Dowell’s vehicle to enter the ditch and strike a culvert, momentarily causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle then traveled approximately 100 feet, before coming to a rest. Dowell’s vehicle sustained disabling damage. Both Dowell and Garcia were wearing their seat belts, but were injured in the crash and transported by EMS to Southwest Health Center in Platteville. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Platteville Fire Department, Southwest Health EMS, and Montfort EMS.
