The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is starting off construction season with Work Zone Awareness Week. Each year WisDOT participates in the national spring campaign to encourage safe driving through work zones. There are currently 81 road construction projects happening across the state, including various locally. More than 2,100 crashes happen in Wisconsin work zones each year, putting driver’s and worker’s lives at risk. This year’s national theme is “Respect the Zone, so We All Get Home.”
