No one was injured in a fire Saturday afternoon at a rental home in Dubuque, though a dog died from apparent smoke inhalation, according to officials. Dubuque Fire Department crews were called to a residence on Alta Vista St. at 12:36 p.m. Saturday after a neighbor saw smoke coming from a residence next door. According to a Dubuque Fire Department report, firefighters determined no occupants were in the building but that a dog was inside. The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes, and a search crew attempted to find the dog. The dog was later found deceased beneath a bed of apparent smoke inhalation.
